ABOUT
COOSANE CREATIONS
Let me introduce myself, my name is Melissa Ryan, I'm an artist, textile designer and creator of this lifestyle brand 'Coosane Creations'. I grew up in a small town in the Blue Mountains of Australia, studied & trained at the FDS (Sydney based Fashion Design Institute, a leading Australian Design School). Highlights throughout my career as a Fashion Designer include designing the 2000 Olympic swimwear for Speedo Australia, 2003 Rugby World Cup apparel for Reebok Australia and designing with O'Neills Irish International Sports, Ireland.

Love brought me to Ireland over 16 years ago and since taking up residence here, I've embraced country living, fallen in love with the Irish culture and it's surroundings of amazing lush green fields and mountain ranges in the village of Birdhill, County Tipperary. I've continued to work in the area of art and design and have over the years been fortunate enough to gain experience in the following areas;
I held my own art exhibition in the Nenagh Library and currently have work on exhibit in The Bridge Art Centre Ballina.
I've mentored and tutored arts and crafts to adolescents in 'The Bridge Art Centre', Ballina.
I've been fortunate over my career to work creatively as an artist and deliver face-to-face arts, crafts and textile courses for Tipperary ETB (Education and Training Board) to rural and vulnerable communities including asylum seekers, people with special needs and adolescent groups. This has given me the courage to expand my current knowledge as an artist and educator and engage with people of walks of life. The programs/projects I have developed make art energising and engaging, through many visual arts mediums. I've designed the courses to combine groups of all ages and learning levels, with the outcomes benefiting the wider communities.

I relish the opportunity to transform as an artist and educator from face-to-face delivery of 'Art & Crafts' to an online environment, where students of all levels and ages can learn and create with no barriers.
ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS
​I work with many mediums, oils and acrylics on canvas and 100% cotton calico in mixed works. By adding assorted embellishments, hand embroidery, machine stitching and using various materials, new and recycled, I'm able to create uniquely designed pieces. I like to take inspiration from the local environment and my farm with the ever changing seasons.

The multilayered textiles are created with a sewing machine as a tool for continuous line drawings, I like to combine these stitched illustrations with hand embroidery and acrylic paint.

When you purchase a handmade product from Coosane Creations, you are making a great decision for the environment. I consciously design and make our items from the 3 'Rs', reduce, reuse and recycle. I source and collect recycled clothing and fabrics that have out lived their purpose and reuse these to create beautiful handmade pieces of art. I design and make our items in Ireland from our small art and craft studio in Birdhill.
